Brazil star Neymar claims racist abuse at Scotland game 

 

Brazil striker Neymar is at the centre of a racism row after saying a banana was thrown at him during the 2-0 friendly win over Scotland.

A Brazilian press officer confirmed a banana had been thrown on the pitch.

"This atmosphere of racism is totally sad," Neymar told a Brazilian TV station. "We leave our country to play here and something like this happens."

But the Scottish FA said: "There has been no such incident reported to the police or the stadium safety officer."

The spokesman added: "In fact, the tens of thousands of Scotland supporters who travelled to the Emirates were commended for their behaviour.

"The Scotland supporters are known the world over for their impeccable behaviour and we have no reason to believe that, after speaking to the relevant authorities, they have been anything other than exemplary.

"The Scotland fans helped create a wonderful spectacle inside the Emirates and throughout London and should be applauded for their support."

Neymar, who scored both of Brazil's goals at the Emirates Stadium and is a reported target for many leading European clubs, made it three goals in three games for Brazil in a very one-sided affair in London.

But a memorable day for the 19-year-old was soured by the incident involving the banana.

Neymar had been booed by Scotland fans after a lengthy spell of treatment for a first half injury, but it is not certain who threw the banana as the fruit apparently came from a section of the ground largely populated by Brazilian supporters.

"They were jeering me a lot, even when I was about to kick the penalty the entire stadium was jeering," added Neymar.

"It's sad. I would rather not even talk about it, to keep the subject from escalating."

He later added that he had not see the banana being thrown but saw it on the ground next to him as he was near the touchline.

"I'm not going to worry about it too much," said the striker.

"It was a marvellous day and certainly one to remember."

Brazil midfielder Lucas Leiva is said to have removed the banana from the pitch and the Liverpool midfielder added: "There is no more space for racism in the world. They say it's the first world here in Europe, but it's where it happens the most.

"That has to change. Everybody is equal today, it's a matter of respect."

Brazil head coach Mano Menezes admitted he hadn't seen the incident.

"I didn't see that," Menezes said. "We didn't have the displeasure of watching it. If it happened, it is lamentable but we don't have confirmation of the event."

Scotland manager Craig Levein added: "I don't know anything about that."

Scottish FA president George Peat, who was also unaware of the incident, condemned any such action "without a doubt".

He said: "That's a sad state if that's true. That's an extremely unusual incident, that, if it happened."

None of the BBC Scotland staff present were aware of a banana being on the pitch and there were no reports of racist chanting.

Meanwhile, Menezes believes Neymar, who has been linked with Real Madrid and Chelsea, would improve if he moved to England but would be a loss to the fans in Brazil.

"I think that could only be good for Neymar as it would be a confirmation of his development," he said.

"English football would make him stronger and help to escape strong marking.

"I don't see any problem.

"But Brazil fans will be deprived of watching a good player."

Menezes was diplomatic when asked if any of the Scottish players had impressed him.

"Scotland does not depend on individuals, it is a collective work," he responded.

"They had players missing like Darren Fletcher, who is important for Scotland and Manchester United, so they certainly have good individual players some of whom play in England.

"But Brazil controlled the game well so we could not see anything of their individual players."

Kekerapan kejadian gempa bumi sejak beberapa tahun kebelakangan ini dipercayai mengakibatkan kedudukan titik gempa di Sumatera, Indonesia beralih dan semakin menghampiri Malaysia.

Pakar geologi, Profesor Madya Datuk Dr. Mohamad Ali Hasan berkata, beliau tidak menolak kemungkinan itu kerana titik gempa biasanya akan mengalami pergerakan sebanyak satu sentimeter setahun jika gempa bumi kerap berlaku di sesebuah kawasan.

Beliau berkata, hakikat tersebut terbukti apabila penduduk negara kini semakin kerap merasai kesan gegaran gempa bumi yang berlaku di negara-negara sekitar rantau ini berbanding sebelum ini.

24 Mac - Gempa bumi berukuran 6.9 pada skala Richter menggegarkan Myanmar pada pukul 9.56 malam ini.

Menurut kenyataan Jabatan Meteorologi, gempa itu berpusat di 1,613 kilometer dari Barat Laut Kangar, Perlis.

Jabatan itu sedang memantau perkembangan gempa bumi itu dan akan memaklumkan situasi terkini kejadian itu. - Utusan

25 Mac - Gempa sekuat 6.8 skala Richter yang melanda Myanmar berhampiran sempadan Thailand lewat malam tadi meragut dua nyawa termasuk seorang kanak-kanak.

Gegaran tersebut dirasai sehingga ke Bangkok iaitu sejauh 800 kilometer di bahagian selatan pusat gempa Naypyidaw, di ibukota Hanoi.

Gempa tersebut pada awalnya diletakkan sekuat 7.0 skala Richter oleh Pertubuhan Kajian Geologi Amerika Syarikat (USGS), sebelum disemak semula menjadi 6.8 skala Richter. - AFP

25 Mac - Thailand merasai sedikit gegaran berikutan kejadian gempa bumi dengan kekuatan 6.8 pada skala Richter melanda Myanmar malam tadi.

Timbalan Pengarah Jabatan Meteorologi Thailand, Somchai Baimuang berkata, penduduk di wilayah utara di Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Nam dan Bangkok turut merasai kesan daripada gempa bumi pada pukul 8.55 malam waktu tempatan.

“Jangan panik dan tiada gempa bumi di Thailand dan tiada amaran tsunami dikeluarkan,” katanya.

Pusat Amaran Tsunami Pasifik melaporkan kejadian gempa bumi di Myanmar berlaku jauh di pendalaman dan tidak mencetuskan ombak tsunami. - Bernama

South Asia nuclear policy not shaken by Japan crisis By Navin Singh Khadka BBC News

 

This month, India's prime minister said nuclear safety would be reviewed

 

The nuclear disaster in Japan has prompted several countries to slow down and even suspend some of their nuclear programmes.
But South Asia - a region that hosts two rival states with nuclear weapons - has made no such move.
No nuclear plants in the region have been shut down nor are any expected to be suspended in the wake of the Fukushima crisis.
Instead, the Bangladeshi government announced on Tuesday that it would go ahead with its earlier plan to build a nuclear power plant with the help of Russia.
The Pakistani government has chosen to remain quiet although all three of its nuclear plants are said to face risks from earthquakes or tsunamis.
Major regional player India has announced a review of safety systems in its nuclear power plants but many believe there are no indications for a shift in its pro-nuclear policy.
"India's Department of Atomic Energy and the Nuclear Power Corporation of India will try to reassure the people of India that they are far more superior than everybody else in the world and this kind of accident would never happen in Indian facilities," read a statement by the National Alliance of Anti-nuclear Movements, a civil campaign in India.
It also accused the authorities of admitting that one of the reactors in south India was built without factoring in the risks from tsunamis.
'No alarm' Another activist group, the Coalition for Nuclear Disarmament and Peace said: "The (Fukushima) incident calls for a thorough review and transparent audit of the safety performance of all nuclear reactors in India, as well as of evacuation and other emergency procedures, which are known to be flawed."
In Pakistan also, few civil societies have raised the alarm.
"The aged Karachi nuclear plant on the coast is as much susceptible with as much serious consequence [as nuclear plants in] Japan because of the proximity of a dense population," said the Pakistan Peace Coalition in its statement.
"The two reactors in Chashma are known to be sitting on a number of criss-crossing tectonic plates."
Pakistan's leading newspaper, The Dawn, wrote in its editorial: "The government needs to reassure the people that natural disaster contingencies are in place at the nuclear units."

 

India has seen recent demonstrations against nuclearisation

 

But such voices of concern have been very limited in Pakistan.
"The Pakistani civil society and opinion makers are gung-ho about the nuclear issue," says AH Nayyar, a physicist with the Sustainable Development Policy Institute, and based at Qaid-e-Azam university in Islamabad.
"And so, the Pakistani establishment has said nothing so far."
The situation in its nuclear rival India is not so different.
While few activists issued statements against nuclear development in the wake of the Fukushima crisis, most mainstream Indian media reports and op-ed pages suggested there would be no immediate turn around.
"The accident in Japan is quite serious and we are in touch with international organisations, but there is no need for a knee-jerk reaction on our programme," Sudhinder Thakur, executive director of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India, which operates Indian atomic power stations, was quoted as saying by the Economic Times.
Mentioning the suspensions and reviews of nuclear and atomic programs in Germany, Russia, Switzerland, and other countries, the Indian Express wrote in its editorial: "Undeniably, Japan is witnessing a nuclear crisis but that shouldn't mean curtains for increased use of nuclear power."
Media reports suggesting continuity of Indian nuclear programmes had earlier pointed out that China, even after the Fukushima disaster, was doing the same.
But a few days later, when Beijing announced that it was suspending approval for new nuclear power stations, India did not follow suit.
"It is very strange that the countries in the region are not doing what many other countries have done in terms of nuclear power," says Amod Dixit a geologist and an international earthquake expert. "Particularly when most of the region falls in the earthquake zone and the intensity of risk is several times high."
Growing demand The main argument for nuclear power has been that the Indian market is power hungry and that there has to be a reliable supply source.
"More than 40% of our people do not have access to electricity," says India's Atomic Energy Commission chairman Srikumar Banerjee.
"Since no other types of energy are a primary source, we need to have solar and nuclear growing at a faster rate to sustain the increase in generation capacity."
With an installed capacity of nearly 170 GigaWatts (GW) out of which nearly 3% comes from nuclear, India still suffers from a power deficit, as its demand has grown rapidly over the years.
Government estimates show that by 2030 Indians will demand 950 GW of electricity and officials admit that the plan to add around 78 GW generation by 2012 is likely to be missed.
Hence, observers say, the quest to quadruple the nuclear capacity in 10 years by pumping billions of dollars into importing reactors from France, Russia and the US.
Energy requirements apart, some in India also perceive nuclear facilities to be an international status symbol, particularly after the coalition government signed a civil nuclear deal with the US last August.
Pakistan, on the other hand, also takes it as an issue of pride that China has helped it build nuclear reactors.
Little wonder that South Asia has seen no major change in nuclear-policy even after the crisis in Fukushima.

If he misses you, he’ll call just to hear your voice.

Tapi dialah yang paling menyayangi anda dan sangat sensitif dengan perubahan pada diri anda.Andai lelaki tahu..Sememangnya Allah menciptakan lelaki dan perempuan itu dengan PERBEZAAN yang tersendiri. Tetapi sekiranya mereka saling memahami, mereka akan saling melengkapi dan menyempurnakan . Perempuan itu diciptakan oleh Allah indah sekali. Di sebalik air matanya, tersimpan seribu satu kekuatan yang bakal menjadikan seorang lelaki itu merasa selamat bersamanya. Biarpun zahirnya perempuan itu tampak lemah tapi dia punya kekuatan tersendiri yang bisa menggoncang dunia dan mungkin bisa pula membuat lelaki menjadi lemah kerananya. Jadi hargailah kehadiran seorang perempuan dalam hidup anda kerana dia didatangkan bukan dengan kelemahan sahaja tetapi dia juga ada kekuatan untuk menyongkong anda dan membuatkan hidup anda LEBIH sempurna.

last week.. 4/3/2010..aku termasuk dalam group melukis banner ni..actually x teringgin pon nk masuk..ni kire pakse rela r..huish..setiap kuliah kene anta dua group yg lukis banner..then lecture plak  gi petik name membe aku,,plak tu membe aku yg baik ni gi petik la name2 shabat2 die ni..n aku tergolong dalam golongan tu.. mula2 mmg xmau msuk pon..ish mne la reti nk mlukis ni..dlu kecik2 ade r lukis gmbr taman la..tpi dabesor ni pegng kertas lukisan pon xde..kalo soh lukis lukisan kejuruteraan aku tau la gak..ade la ilmu tu cket2..tpi cian plak kt die..so aku pon join la skali..tema banner tu tok nk dmbut final exam ni..konon2 nk bg kate2 smangt la..alah..kalo da mmg xde smngt nk blaja bg la banner besar mane pon kt dowg tu bkn insaf..haha

aku ingtkn group laen x kreatif..tpi time da siap sume dowg nye disign agk bgus jgk la..haha..reti pon mlukis..aku ingt kan korg reti mghadap buku je..n finally kiteorang dpt ilustrasi terbaik.haha..ok wht..x dpt mng keseluruhan pon tpi ade gk mng ketegori..banner tu baru hasil tangan aku yg x brape nk lawa ni..kalo smemngnye tgn seni..uish lagi hebat la kowt..haha..
